We invite parents to join a conversation about the meaning of a good education

Educational Solutions Worldwide Inc. is inviting parents to join a conversation about the meaning of a good education.  The company released The Re-inventing Literacy Education Conversation Starter Kit which is designed to assist parents in making informed decisions about their child’s literacy education.

Eaton Donald, President of Educational Solutions, believes parents should look beyond their child’s letter grade.

“Parents may not otherwise ask if their child is really engaged and truly learning the subject matter.  Often times parents are satisfied with an A+, A or B grade without truly understanding what it means.  What we are providing parents of grade-school aged children is a way to engage the teacher, principal and even bring up these points with the school’s Parent Teacher Association,” he said.

The kit complements Educational Solutions’ Re-inventing Literacy Education using Words in Color white paper which was released as a part of the launch of the 2010 Edition of Words in Color.

“We want both parents and teachers to be aware of not only what is happening in the classroom but why it is happening.” stated Mr. Donald.

Upcoming, “The Science of Education summarized”

Caleb Gattegno began work on The Science of Education series of books in 1940. After decades of research and real-world experience teaching all kinds of students to read, write, and do mathematics, he released The Science of Education Part 1: Theoretical Considerations in 1987. This book is renowned for its deep consideration and enlightening conclusions about the problem of education, but it is also a notoriously challenging read.  I have decided to take on the challenge, and to summarize each chapter according to my own understanding. I hope to express his ideas clearly and succinctly, without losing the powerful concepts his original words evoke. My next post will be summarizing Chapter 1: How a Science is Born. Wish me luck!
